Men Wanted!

MEN!

Your resonance is required in the Bass section of our choir! Our basses sound so good that we have become particularly partial to their beautiful tone and are therefore seeking to increase the AMPLIFICATION in this department. We have opportunities in all sections and all ages, women and men and so whether or not you've sung in a choir before, (you do not need to be a brilliant and experienced singer to create wonderful harmony,) come and learn it with us and Join our team!

Please phone Marjorie on 015242 72812 or Jean on 015242 76265.

Ours is a thriving, non-auditioned choir that has performed a wide and varied repertoire from Mozart to Bernstein for almost 120 years. We aspire to a high musical standard and aim to thrill our concert audiences, performing 2 or three times a year under our esteemed conductor and joined frequently by professional soloists in the beautiful church of St Mary’s, Kirkby Lonsdale, beside the river Lune.

Our Society has been asked to perform at the Kendal Christmas Charity Concert in the Westmorland Hall in December, which honour is testimony to our recent successes. Many of our members join the Mary Wakefield Festival Chorus and the Cumbria Choral Initiative for the opportunity of singing the great works under famous conductors among an enormous number of voices. We also participate in a friendly annual choral evening with other choirs.

Come along for a couple of rehearsals at the Institute, New Road, Kirkby Lonsdale on Thursdays at 7.30 and find out about us at first hand - with no obligation. The first rehearsal for 2008-2009 is on Thursday 11 September. There exists a great camaraderie amongst our members who come in from an area covering Ingleton to Kendal and Silverdale to Sedbergh (so many of us car-share.)

The Society encourages young singers and offers free membership to students, (a saving of £30.) Singing in a well-established choir is a life-enhancing experience, not only for musical and social skills, but in self-discipline, learning skills, mental and physical stamina, team spirit and self assurance. When it comes to applying for jobs or for places in university, choral singing is highly regarded as an indication of a candidate’s commitment and reliability

We offer the opportunity to create new friendships, explore your musical talents, experience the thrill of entertaining the community and participate in a rewarding activity that brings your enjoyment of music to others.

Remember
SINGING IS GOOD FOR YOU!
